"Our mission is to work across borders and diseases to improve the lives of all people living with rare diseases"


EURORDIS is a non profit alliance of rare disease patient organisations from 74 countries, striving for disabled people and people with rare diseases having equal opportunities and achieving their full potential.


Patient from all over the world came together to talk about their challenges and everyday life struggles, something people without health issues couldn't even imagine. It was one of the most difficult and yet one of the most beautiful events I ever covered.


Parents with disabled children, adults with rare conditions, service dogs & EURORDIS multinational representatives came together to inspire one another in a day full of heavy conversations but also SO MUCH laughter and happiness.


I shed not one tear throughout the day, mostly just amazed by the incredible strength that the whole day was charged with and I wanted the photos to reflect exactly that.

Additional part of the assignment for me was to also capture new updated portraits for the board and the members of EURORDIS to give their website a more unified look. The task was to make the headshots appear open and warm so I knew I needed to capture each and every member in their happiest natural self. Not an easy task with a short time slot and many (naturally) nervous people to photograph.


Which is why I wanted the members to have fun with it. I came up with a fun quick prompt and had every member do it so that the portraits turned out more natural.
