The spirit of Wellness

Compelling Visuals of More than Just a Yoga Pose

Back in March I was contacted by Yohanna whom I met a year earlier while documenting Female Leadership Summit in Stockholm where she was one of the speakers. We instantly connected over similarities in our life trajectories and stayed on each other's radar after that.

And then one cold March day I got a message from her asking if I would be interested to come and shoot her 2-day yoga retreat at Hasselbacken Djurgården she was organizing with Sandra Lones, another lovely human being and yoga teacher whom I had yet to meet.

To get to document a yoga retreat had been my secret desire for a while and so I instantly agreed! Having gone through a spiritual journey myself after burnout and a complete change of my lifestyle as a consequence, I was fascinated by other people's journeys and the overall spirit of wellness. I couldn't wait to document such a special event and I knew right then that it would be about much more than just a few yoga poses practiced in a room. And man was I right...

Capturing light, feelings & moments and all the things in between people and yoga.

story beyond the mat

To witness someone's journey into themselves, the determination to learn, feel the soul of practice & all the energy of chanting while new connections form among attendees - I was determined to capture the spirit of it all.

Moments of Serenity & Connection

Chanting & Mantra meditation with lovely Reena

Powerful Chanting Moments with YOGA BREAKFAST CLUB

To document the energy in the room when Reena joined Yohanna & Sandra for the meditation part of the retreat was incredible.

I tiptoed around, watching and observing, trying to capture not only the overall energy of the room but each & every individual's journey down into themselves.

And thanks to Yohanna's & Sandra's generous souls, I even got to put down the camera for a short while and breathe in the energy of chanting myself.

Kind Words

Dear Susanna, thank you so much for the stunning pictures from Hasselbacken. Truly wonderful! We had our retreats photographed before but never in such a way. You were truly able to capture the emotions.
