Slowing Down, Connecting with Nature

Earlier this Autumn I was approached by PR representative for Nobis Hotel Group in Stockholm to shoot at one of their newly renovated hotels in Nacka. The vibe of the place is exactly what I identify with the most - slowing down, relax, connection to nature.
I took a friend with me, a colleague photographer to model for me while we explored all the hotel had to offer during this fun weekend stay.
I really wanted to focus on the essence of the place and so the relax and calmness stood at the centre of my storytelling.
Right from the Start...
As I got out of the taxi I noticed how the afternoon light was hitting the buildings and the surroundings of the hotel so the first thing I did, even before getting to the reception, I pulled out my camera, left my luggage at the entrance & took a walk around to document the magic of nature. I'm glad I started shooting from the get go because as it turned out, this was the only moment the sun was shining during our entire stay!
We were staying at one of the hotel's suites with the beautiful view over the water towards Djurgården so I wanted the photos to not only do justice to what it looked like, I focused mostly on painting a picture of what it felt like to stay in a place like this.
The boats roaring back and forth in the distance, cup of coffee on the terrace in the crispy autumn weather, wrapped in a cozy hotel bathrobe. It was one of the reasons I invited a friend with me. Because to be able to accurately tell the story of services and hotels, it's best done through showing emotions of people enjoying it.

Getting Cozy
One of the biggest appeals in every hotel is a huge comfy bed! I really wanted to show the emotions of what it feels and looks like to enjoy the room. I played around with different scenarios but mostly centred it around the PR gifts we received - a journal and supplements that beautifully complimented the whole vibe of slowing down, relaxing and focusing on self care.
After all the coziness of the room, we were ready to explore the sauna down at the dock. The place was incredibly charismatic and so I wanted to add to the diversity of the slow, still moments with a bit of movement and action in the photos. The point was to paint the feeling of those thrilling moments of hot & cold that come with spending time in steamy sauna, followed by cold sea and throwing on the cozy bathrobe.

It wouldn't be a whole story without documenting properly all the slow moments of soaking in bathtub while taking advantage of the wonderfully smelling body products that the hotel had to offer.
I wanted to really transport the audience into the experience so I focused a lot on awakening all the senses with portraying bubbles, texture of the body products and the whole ambience of the bathroom.
New Day, New Creative Ideas
After a good night sleep we awoke to a cloudy October morning, which only further sparked my imagination for some really creative photos. Fired up by the coziness of rainy clouds we had some fun before going for breakfast and the last section of traditional architectural interior photos.

It wouldn't be a complete story without really documenting what the hotel looks like. So while we came down for breakfast I took the opportunity to explore the interior design and all the hidden corners of the hotel and documented the overall vibe of the place - photos that are perfect specifically for websites and service/accommodation online listings.
